Designing a workflow that enables National Weather Service forecasters to configure, review, and issue multiple weather warnings from a shared workspace, while maintaining visibility and control over each hazard.
Understanding the Product
Weather warnings are more than a single action.
National Weather Service forecasters are responsible for monitoring evolving weather conditions and issuing warnings that communicate potential threats to the public.
HIVE is a forecasting platform designed to bring weather data, geospatial tools, and hazard management into a shared operational workspace. Within HIVE, HazGen supports the creation, configuration, and management of weather hazards.
When multiple geographic areas require warnings, forecasters need to manage several hazards, each with its own geographic boundaries, hazard type, and configuration details.
The Batch Issuance feature introduces a way to prepare and manage these hazards as part of one coordinated workflow.
